Bingchuan Wan

Bingchuan Wan, Tenor. Known for his love of singing and teaching, which have been his most treasured dreams and pursuits, the Chinese-born tenor Bingchuan Wan is an opera singer, soloist and voice teacher in classical music. Mr. Wan is a native of Jiangsu, China.

As an opera singer, Mr. Wan has performed major roles in many famous operas, including the leading role of Angel in Mozart's “The Impresario”, Hoffmann in Offenbach's "The Tales of Hoffmann ", Count Tassilo in Hungarian composer Emmerich Kalman’s operetta "Countess Maritza” and Brother Liu in the Chinese opera "Sister Liu”. Prior to these roles, Mr. Wan had also participated in many operas with the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, National Opera House Symphony Orchestra in China. In addition to his opera performances, Mr. Wan was a soloist in many important concerts such as one to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sino-American relations, the “Cheers to the Motherland" concert in the Jordan Hall of the New England Conservatory, the concert featuring winners of the American Protégé International Vocal Competition at Carnegie Hall in New York, the concert highlighting winners of the New York Golden Classical Music Award International Competition at Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Zigen Foundation Charity Concert.

Mr. Wan has earned many accolades in music competitions. In 2019, he earned first prize in the New York Golden Classical Music Award International Competition, and Salzburg International Music Competition, Amsterdam International Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, and America Protégé International Vocal Competition. At the same year, Mr. Wan became the Honor Competition Winner of Longy School of Music of Bard College. Otherwise, as an outstanding Asian tenor, he was awarded the "American Asian Elite Leader Award" issued by the governor of Massachusetts. Earlier in China, Mr. Wan won second place in the vocal music competition of the "Shanghai Spring" International Music Festival.

While active in singing performances, Mr. Wan has also committed himself to vocal music education and founded his own Boston-based vocal studio in 2018. Specifically, he held several vocal music master classes in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for many vocal music lovers.

Mr. Wan received his master of music in Vocal Performance and Graduate Performance Diploma in Opera from Longy School of Music of Bard College, studying under the tutelage of Karyl Ryczek. He is a graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with a master degree in vocal performance granted in 2009. He was an opera singer with the China National Opera House.
